Jantar Mantar remained out of reach for CJP

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: As flight AI 2428 was taxiing at Delhi’s IGI Airport around 10am Saturday, it was met with an unusual sight — Delhi Police personnel waiting on the tarmac. The Air India flight was carrying Cockroach Janta Party’s Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das from Mumbai to Delhi.

The last posts made from the social media handles of the three were between 10.15am and 10.30am. AISA national president Neha Bora, who was detained from INA around 1.30pm, meanwhile, said her phone was returned to her around 6pm. In a press statement, Shinde said, “The govt’s intense fear and desperate crackdowns prove one thing clearly: we have already won half the fight.

In the video, he said: “You can see that Delhi Police is entering the plane to arrest us. In a post on X, Delhi Police said: “The information regarding the demise of Abhijeet’s grandmother was promptly conveyed to him with due sensitivity. It also said that there was no undue delay in passing the information on to Dipke. Police took away the phones of the detainees, according to other CJP functionaries. Police, however, denied the allegation and said they had not taken away any phones.

By this time, Dipke had started streaming the police action live on Instagram. We just landed. Delhi Police officers are standing in the aisle. They are trying to arrest us from inside the plane… Not even Indira Gandhi did this during the Emergency. All we wanted to do is a peaceful protest and they are picking us up from the flight like we are criminals. .. Arrest us. We are not afraid of you. A policewoman replied that they were not being arrested, but detained since they had not been granted permission to protest at Jantar Mantar. As she reached out to hold his arm, Dipke asked that a policeman be brought in to handle them. The three, who were supposed to be at the centre of the protest, did not reach Jantar Mantar, where hundreds were detained by police while trying to participate in a protest that CJP had called. Dipke was taken to Gurgaon, Ranka to Dwarka and Das to an undisclosed location in southwest Delhi. Several other CJP functionaries, including legal cell head Ratna Singh and policy head Mehr, were surrounded by police personnel while they were in their vehicles and detained. Hours after the detention, it was learnt that Dipke’s grandmother had passed away in Maharashtra. He was also informed of the scheduled funeral time and offered all possible assistance to facilitate his travel to his hometown on humanitarian grounds. The solidarity of citizens coming together from across the country has shaken the regime to its core. We call upon every citizen to march toward Jantar Mantar. If your movement is blocked by barricades or police personnel anywhere on the streets, do not stop—start your protest right where you are stopped. ”
