New Delhi: Seeking greater accountability from civic agencies, lieutenant governor TS Sandhu Monday asked department heads to personally visit major parks and assess security gaps, while directing Delhi Police to intensify patrolling at vulnerable locations.
The review comes in the wake of the recent incident at Astha Kunj Park, which has prompted authorities to reassess safety measures in parks and other public spaces across the capital. Sandhu also directed Delhi Police to intensify patrolling and visible policing, and asked senior officers to engage proactively with students, educational institutions, resident welfare associations and market traders’ associations to identify safety concerns and ensure timely action. Reviewing security arrangements for public transport, he instructed the transport department and DTC to strengthen security in buses and ensure adequate lighting at bus stops.
