New Delhi: Delhi Police has bound down a Myanmar national holding a UNHCR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) card for allegedly accommodating 28 foreign nationals at a guest house in Uttam Nagar over a period of time without submitting mandatory details to authorities.
The man allegedly hosted 23 US nationals and five Norwegian nationals at the premises but failed to file Form C (earlier referred to as Form III), which is required to be submitted by those providing accommodation to foreign nationals, according to police. The case was registered at Dabri police station on Oct 23 following a complaint from Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Following the complaint, Dabri police registered an FIR under Sections 8 and 23 of the Act and launched an investigation.
Police said the Myanmar national, who lives with his family in a four-room apartment in Chanakya Place, Uttam Nagar, allegedly used two rooms of the flat as a guest house and rented them out to foreign nationals over a period of time. Police said he has been bound down, requiring the Myanmar national to join the investigation whenever called and inform authorities before leaving the city.
