Interchange facilities would remain available at all the affected stations except New Delhi metro station

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday announced the closure of entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations from 9pm on October 9 until further notice, citing security reasons, ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. In a service update posted on X, DMRC said the restrictions would continue through October 10. In a letter dated October 8, Joint commissioner of police (Transport Range) Rajneesh Gupta also said the frequency of metro trains passing through the identified stations could be reduced on October 10, depending on the situation.

Interchange facilities would remain available at all the affected stations except New Delhi metro station, it said. The announcement follows a request from Delhi Police to DMRC to shut the 57 stations from Friday night through Saturday, citing the possibility of “unruly mob movement towards sensitive locations”. The restrictions come ahead of the CJP’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Which Metro Stations Are Affected?
