The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: A protest march was held by members of various women’s and students’ organisations towards Delhi Police Headquarters in Patel Chowk on Saturday against alleged atrocities committed by police personnel on women protesters.

Krantikari Yuva Sangathan alleged that women protesters were arrested after 6pm, violating Section 43(5) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

“They are taken to far-flung areas, getting back from where after their release poses a great risk to their safety,” it stated. Following the march, protesters submitted a memorandum of demands to Delhi Police. Members of Students’ Federation of India (SFI) also took part in the march. In a statement on X, CPM stated, “The protest demanded an end to the targeting of women, transgender and non-binary protesters, and strict action against police personnel responsible for sexualised and gendered violence… of peaceful protesters… in public spaces, police vehicles and detention centres.
