Hyderabad: Bank of India’s CyberShield Hackathon 2026, organised with IIT Hyderabad, concluded on Friday, selecting six winners from 2,936 registrations received nationwide.
The two-day PSB Cybersecurity, Fraud & Artificial Intelligence Hackathon, held on Aug 27 and 28, focused on technology solutions for emerging banking and financial cybersecurity challenges. Of the registrations, 72 entries involving 232 participants were shortlisted for prototype presentations. The hackathon offered a Rs 20 lakh prize pool, with Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh awarded to the top three winners in each category.
Team Vijaya of IIIT Bangalore won the fraudulent APKs and malware category, followed by Team Fi of Chandigarh University and LogicFoundry of NIT Goa. Participants addressed two problem statements: using generative AI to analyse fraudulent mobile applications and malware, and developing AI/ML systems to detect suspicious transactions and mule accounts. Eighteen finalists advanced after the first round. In the suspicious transactions category, IIIT Delhi’s weAreWinners secured first prize, followed by Team Vijaya and PES University’s LUNA LUPA.
