EESL introduces nationwide e-cooking programme: The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

It has announced a special public offer: an induction cooktop with utensils at just ₹6,990. Hyderabad: In a major push towards safer kitchens, energy efficiency and sustainable household practices, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), ministry of power, has announced the adoption of electric cooking (e-cooking) across the country under the National Efficient Cooking Programme (NECP).

It also reinforces India’s broader commitment to sustainable development and a cleaner energy future, EESL said. At the national level, the electrification of household cooking can contribute to reduced fossil-fuel dependence, lower energy wastage and a more resilient, self-reliant energy ecosystem. Induction cooking eliminates open flames and combustion within the kitchen, substantially reducing the risks associated with conventional flame-based cooking, including fire hazards and accidental gas leakages. It also provides greater temperature control, convenience and a cleaner indoor cooking environment.
