Hyderabad : A routine trip to a tuition class turned fatal for a 13-year-old girl when an RTC bus rammed the scooter she was travelling on with her mother in Balanagar on Thursday evening, leaving the teenager dead and her mother injured.
The accident occurred around 5 pm.
S Pavani Prapurna, a resident of HAL Colony, was riding the scooter with her daughter Navya Sri Satya as a pillion rider, according to police. Police said the bus was travelling from Narsapur X Roads towards Secunderabad at the time of the accident. The two were on their way to a tuition centre in nearby Raju Colony when the RTC bus belonging to the Kushaiguda depot allegedly hit their vehicle from behind.
Due to the collision, both of us fell on the road and the bus ran over my daughter. Following the complaint, Balanagar police registered a case against the bus driver under Section 106(1) (causing death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation. “The bus driver drove in a rash and negligent manner. She suffered a severe head injury, and I sustained minor injuries on hands. Locals rushed both of us to a nearby private hospital, where my daughter was declared brought dead,” Prapurna stated in her complaint. Download the TOI App.
