Hundreds of devotees participate in the immersion of Khairatabad Ganesh at Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad on Friday
Hyderabad: Thousands waited patiently to bid farewell to the 69-foot Khairtabad Ganesh as the immersion procession was delayed owing to technical issues involved in moving the idol onto a special vehicle, on Friday morning. The procession for the city’s iconic Bada Ganesh, scheduled to begin early in the morning, eventually set off around 9.30am. Streets, footpaths and balconies around Khairtabad, Rajdoot Chowrasta, Telephone Bhavan, and Telangana Thalli were packed with devotees chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya” as the towering Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapati made its way towards Hussainsagar. After the procession made its way past the Secretariat and towards NTR Marg for the immersion, police and volunteers cordoned off the final stretch as devotees jostled for a clear view of Bappa.
