The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Hyderabad : Nizamabad police have arrested an agent accused of facilitating the recruitment of four Telangana men into the Russian Army after they were allegedly lured abroad with promises of civilian jobs. The four men remain stranded in Russia, with their families continuing efforts to secure their rescue and repatriation.

Nizamabad commissioner of police P Sai Chaitanya confirmed the arrest of Gourav Chaudhary, 34, a native of Karwara in Uttar Pradesh.

The men have reported being deployed in forested areas, undergoing firearms training and being made to walk 15-20 km daily while carrying nearly 40 kg of equipment and weapons, according to family members. They claim the men fear for their lives and are unaware of their exact location. The families have approached Telangana govt authorities through the Praja Vani grievance programme, seeking immediate intervention for their rescue and return.

Citing information relayed by the families, Khan said the men were believed to be in border or conflict-affected areas under military-related contracts. He urged the Centre to take up the matter with Russian authorities to secure their release and repatriation, while also seeking a thorough investigation into the role of the recruitment agents.
