Hyderabad : Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the govt is pursuing a firm and uncompromising policy to safeguard public lands while simultaneously waging an aggressive legal battle to resolve long-pending disputes.
Describing the Supreme Court ’s ruling in favour of the Telangana govt in the 400-acre Kancha Gachibowli land case as a landmark victory, the minister said Thursday’s favourable verdict in the long-running Miyapur land dispute was another significant success in the state’s efforts to protect public assets.
Ponguleti said that inadequate monitoring and lack of coordination in the past had resulted in several valuable govt lands remaining tied up in litigation for decades. “While strict measures are being taken to prevent encroachments, the govt is also waging an effective legal battle to resolve long-pending land disputes,” the minister said. He added that chief minister Revanth Reddy has been personally monitoring efforts to expedite the resolution of legal disputes involving govt properties. To address the issue, the govt undertook a comprehensive review of land records, revenue documents and legal evidence to establish and protect the state’s ownership rights. The minister warned that attempts to encroach upon public lands or secure illegal rights over them would not be tolerated.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ponguleti said the govt has accorded top priority to safeguarding valuable public lands since assuming office.
