Recording the submission, the high court disposed of the petition while granting liberty

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Hyderabad : Telangana high court has disposed of a writ petition challenging proposed quarrying, stone-crushing and blasting activities in two survey numbers at Akuthotapally village in Amangal mandal of Rangareddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

The petitioner also raised concerns over the potential impact of blasting, dust pollution and heavy vehicle movement on villagers, agricultural lands, groundwater sources, houses, and a nearby government primary school attended by about 120 children. Seeking interim relief, the petitioner requested the court to stay the proposed activity. However, the assistant govt pleader informed the court that no work had commenced at the site. Recording the submission, the high court disposed of the petition while granting liberty to the petitioner to approach the appropriate appellate forum. The court also observed that contempt proceedings could be initiated if any work was undertaken contrary to the statement made before it.
