The car was reportedly travelling at 100 kmph when it hit the truck
Huzurabad rural circle inspector, Gandhe Prabhu (38), a lineman, was driving the car, which he owned, according to V Srinivas. The group was travelling at around 100 kmph when they saw a truck ahead and assumed that it was moving.
None of the five occupants was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, police said. When they tried to overtake it, they realised that the truck had actually broken down and was stationary. The car rammed into the rear of the truck, police added. The impact was so severe that the car was badly mangled and one of the occupants was thrown out of the vehicle. The bodies of the three deceased were recovered from the accident spot and further procedures were taken up by the police. A case has been registered, and police are investigating the accident.
All five were employees of the Yanampalli 400kV substation. Vishveshwar Rao was a native of Warangal, while Prabhu and Sudhakar were from Dichpally. Prabhu had joined Transco under compassionate appointment after the death of his father and had recently shifted to Hyderabad with his family.
