Hyderabad: Two days after ex-havildar U Mallesh was remanded in judicial custody by the state police for his role in the theft at the Madras Regiment armoury in Bolarum, he was admitted to a hospital on Sunday.

Sources in the prison department said Mallesh was admitted as he was suffering from liver and kidney problems. Before his arrest, Mallesh was questioned by officials of multiple agencies, both state and central. The petition is yet to come up for hearing. Download the TOI App.
The development came to light on Monday night. Mallesh was arrested by Bollarum police on Friday and later produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to Chanchalguda prison. Meanwhile, Bollarum police on Tuesday moved a petition before a local court seeking permission for custodial interrogation of Mallesh.
