Hyderabad: The Telangana Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) on Wednesday welcomed the decision of the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) to re-examine and re-fix fee structures for postgraduate medical and dental courses in private colleges for the 2020-23 and 2023-26 block periods.
TAFRC informed the Telangana high court on Sept 1 that it would re-examine and re-fix the fee structure by setting up a committee, according to the medical reforms association. The development followed a six-year legal battle over the fee structures notified under GOs in 2020 and 2023, the association said. Earlier, the high court had directed the TAFRC to constitute a committee to re-examine and re-fix the fees for postgraduate medical and dental courses for the 2020–23 and 2023–26 block periods.

“We will continue to follow up on the matter until the fee review process is completed and justice is delivered to students,” said Dr Karthik Nagula, president, HRDA. The association alleged that the fees fixed for MD and MDS courses in private minority and non-minority colleges were exorbitant and had been proposed without proper financial scrutiny and audits of the colleges. This means the fees fixed for PG medical and dental courses in private colleges during the two periods will be reviewed, and may be reduced or revised after examining the colleges’ financial records and fee proposals.
