Kolkata: A senior citizen residing as a tenant in Behala has approached the police alleging a series of calculated intimidations, forced break-ins, and persistent attempts by unknown elements to dislodge her from her residence outside of legal due process.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the police have been urged to secure local CCTV footage, identify the intruders, and initiate immediate preventive measures. Given her advanced age, local civic and police networks have also been called upon to extend protective security assistance under senior citizen welfare protocols while investigations proceed.
The victim, Gita Chowthani (72), has been in peaceful possession of her tenanted premises for a considerable period, according to the complaint . Despite regularly depositing her rent through court channels up to Aug this year, the septuagenarian has claimed that she has lately been facing severe safety and privacy violations.
An active tenancy dispute and an ejectment proceeding are currently sub judice before the court.
