Kolkata: Kolkata Police will be pulling out all stops — from using a drone on Maa flyover-AJC Bose flyover stretch to deploying cops at almost all sensitive zones where manja accidents have been reported in the past, like Topsia, Park Circus and Hastings — to ensure a safe Vishwakarma Puja week. The move comes in the wake of three manja-related accidents in the past two months. The exercise that will involve cops from the southeast division, traffic and detective department will last for several hours in the evening. The drone will be monitored by both Lalbazar and the southeast division control rooms. The drive started from Sunday itself with cops being deployed on the flyovers even as multiple awareness campaigns — stating that legal action would be taken for using Chinese manja — continue across Beniapukur-Karaya-Topsia belt.
