Between 2023 and 2024, Natta allegedly extorted around Rs 60 lakh from him in several instalments and also forced him to bear the cost of a new SUV, according to promoter Sujoy Majumdar. Majumdar alleged that the accused subsequently demanded another Rs 20 lakh. When he refused to pay, Natta and his men forcibly stopped work on all his projects, claimed Majumdar.
Kolkata: A day after a Dum Dum-based promoter met chief minister Suvendu Adhikari at his ‘Janatar Darbar’ and accused former Dum Dum municipality vice-chairman Barun Natta of extortion and cheating, the Trinamool strongman was arrested along with two aides – Nayanashis Das aka Johnnu and Sumanta Ghosh alias Laltu – on Thursday night.
Majumdar said that he lodged two complaints at Dum Dum police station – one in 2024 and the other on Sept 3 – and also approached the civic body, but no action was taken.
