The accused in the Gaighata case was taken to the crime scene for reconstruction, as in the Baruipur case, according to police. Saying that said she fully supported the police action, Debnath added: “Something similar happened in my daughter’s case. Police claimed that he snatched a firearm, opened fire and attempted to flee, following which he was killed in retaliatory firing. An encounter has taken place. The boy’s mother may be grieving but she failed to raise her son properly. Referring to the death of her doctor daughter, Debnath also drew a contrast between the previous and incumbent govt. She alleged that the previous govt had focused more on concealing the crime than on apprehending those responsible, adding that the then MLA from her area had also been part of the same political camp.
Kolkata: Ratna Debnath, mother of the RG Kar victim and the BJP MLA from Panihati, reacting to the “encounter” of the Gaighata rape-murder accused, on Tuesday openly expressed her support for it, saying she would have welcomed similar action against those accused of raping and murdering her daughter.
However, the investigation is progressing and justice will certainly be delivered,” she said. “There was no reconstruction of the crime scene in my daughter’s case.
