Kolkata: A Nadia court on Monday framed charges against all 24 accused in the murder

Police filed a supplementary chargesheet before Nadia chief judicial magistrate’s court in July under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 25 of Arms Act and Sections 3 and 4 of Explosive Substances Act. Advocate Bivas Chatterjee has been appointed special public prosecutor

Kolkata: A Nadia court on Monday framed charges against all 24 accused in the murder of nine-year-old Tamanna Khatun in Kaliganj, clearing the way for trial to begin. Tamanna died on June 23, 2025, after a crude bomb was hurled at her house during a post-bypoll victory rally taken out by Trinamool Congress supporters. Of the 24 accused named in the FIR, 23 are in judicial custody and one is out on bail. Police filed a supplementary chargesheet before Nadia chief judicial magistrate’s court in July under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 25 of Arms Act and Sections 3 and 4 of Explosive Substances Act. 13 remained on the run until late June While 11 accused were arrested earlier.

Prime accused Dayal Sheikh, then a local TMC booth committee president, was among those named in the complaint. Advocate Bivas Chatterjee has been appointed special public prosecutor. The framing of charges follows months of protests by the victim’s family over police delays.
