Kolkata: Lawyers of Bankshall court will march to Lalbazar on Thursday to protest the alleged assault on four advocates during a confrontation over an egg attack on the court premises last week.

Bar Association secretary Raja Sengupta said lawyers from five bar associations would assemble outside the court at noon on Oct 8 and march peacefully to Kolkata Police headquarters. Lawyers have abstained from work since Oct 1. YouTuber’s police custody extended : The Bankshall court on Tuesday extended YouTuber Dipak Byapari’s police custody till Oct 8 in a case over objectionable social media posts against the CM.

Police had arrested YouTuber Dipak Byapari and produced him in court when some outsiders allegedly hurled eggs at him, according to Sengupta. Sengupta said the agitation would continue until the “main conspirator” was arrested, claiming 16 cases had been registered against the alleged key accused. Bar Association president Sanjoy Singh said the abstention continued. At least two others are absconding, sources said. Police officers said investigators needed to question him about funding.

When lawyers objected, the group allegedly assaulted four advocates, who were taken to hospital. Police have arrested Raman Kumar Mishra and Roshan Sau. Monday’s protest had caused major traffic disruption.
