Mitro Sangho pandal is being made by artisans from Kolkata
Lucknow: An elaborate pandal replicating Akshardham Temple of Gujarat will be the main attraction of Mitro Sangho Durga Puja Committee’s 52nd Durga Puja celebrations at Model House from Oct 17 to 20. The committee has estimated the total cost of the pandal at around Rs 16 lakh. A 12-foot-tall idol of Goddess Durga will be installed inside the structure.

Committee secretary Nitesh Tiwari said the theme was chosen as a tribute to Lord Swaminarayan. “We wanted to dedicate the pandal to Lord Swaminarayan, so we made his temple a pandal this time,” he said. The pandal is being constructed and decorated by artisans from Kolkata. The celebrations will also feature a range of cultural and entertainment activities. Dhunuchi dance, fancy-dress competitions and selfie corners will be organised for visitors. Children will have swings and other attractions. Dhaakiyas from Kolkata will add to the festive atmosphere, while dhol performances will accompany the celebrations. Prasad will be distributed every day. The bhog menu will include chorchori, khichdi, paneer sabzi, dal, pulao, aloo gobhi, matar paneer, rajma and kheer. Food stalls offering popular fast-food items such as chowmein, chaat, momos, bhelpuri and tacos will also be set up. Games, including musical chairs and Antakshari, will be organised, with prizes for participants, adding to the festive spirit of the four-day celebration. Download the TOI App.
