Kolkata: The state youth services and sports department is working on an adventure sports policy that will accord top priority to the safety and security of participants.

He also appealed to youths aged 15-29 to participate in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027, part of the National Youth Festival, to be held in Delhi from Jan 10 to 12.

We need certain safety regulations to be in place for encouraging this type of sports and hence our policy would prioritise the safety and security of the participants to the best extent possible,” said Indranil Khan, youth services and sports minister. Referring to earlier mishaps involving river rafting and mountaineering, Khan said the govt would not compromise on safety standards. “We have held discussions for providing a push to adventure sports in the state and for this we are coming up with an adventure sports policy. Participants can register through the My Bharat portal. The six tracks include the Viksit Bharat Challenge, Cultural Track, Design for Bharat, Hack for Social Cause, Youth Entrepreneurs Challenge and Youth Parliament.
