Kolkata: The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board has published the final merit list for the 2024 constable recruitment drive, ending a long wait for candidates.
A total of 11,596 candidates have been provisionally selected. This includes 8,212 male candidates and 3,381 female candidates. The final selection was made out of 100 marks. The written examination carried 85 marks, while the interview carried 15 marks. The announcement came a day after CM Suvendu Adhikari announced a major recruitment drive after cabinet clearance to fill 1.5 lakh vacant posts across state government departments. Around 12,000 posts are expected to be filled in the West Bengal Police and 4,000 in the Kolkata Police.

A senior government official said the recruitment process is expected to be completed by the end of the current financial year. Sources at Nabanna said the police force will get a large share of the new appointments. “Recruitment in the police or fire department cannot be done on a contractual basis, as happened during the previous government’s tenure,” Adhikari said.
Candidates can check their results, individual scores and category-wise cut-off marks on the WBPRB portal or the West Bengal Police website.
