Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Tuesday did not interfere in Congress ’s Nandigram bypoll candidate Milan Pradhan’s plea seeking protection in six 2007 cases but orally told the state not to take action till Oct 9 and remarked, “let him contest… provided he gets bail”. Not only him, in the same case other persons against whom warrants were pending have also been arrested,” the AAG submitted.
In one murder case registered in 2007, he has been remanded in judicial custody till Oct 5. Pradhan was sent to judicial custody on Saturday by the Haldia Sub-Divisional Court till Oct 3 in four pending non-bailable arrest warrants linked to cases in Nandigram. On Monday, a Contai court sent the Congress candidate to 14-day judicial custody, till Oct 5, in a case under Arms Act registered nearly two decades ago.
He is in judicial custody in two other cases following separate orders by a district court.
