Kolkata : With signs of slight uptick in dengue cases the state health dept has decided to intensify its search, testing and treatment strategy along with vector control exercises.
This year the state has registered around 4,500 dengue cases across the state and the vector-borne disease has claimed seven lives officially. The health dept has directed administrators of all govt health facilities to line list admitted dengue patients, share their address and family contact numbers with relevant civic bodies so that the latter can take corrective measures like identification and elimination of the source. Health facilities have also been asked to update records of confirmed dengue patients on daily basis in a dedicated portal giving special emphasis on the clinical status of severe dengue patients.
Officials said this would facilitate to find if there is any clustering of cases. Health officials said that at present there is no surge in platelet demand but it was prudent to keep the blood banks ready in case there is a surge in serious dengue positive patients who might need platelet transfusion. District health administrators have been asked to ensure compliance of such patient line listing by private hospitals in a dedicated portal for the private hospitals. All health facilities have also been asked to share the status of daily footfall in fever clinics or camps with the health quarter in a special format while ensuring testing for such patients. In addition, dengue observer teams have been formed. These teams consisting doctors, nurses and paramedic personnel have been tasked to visit facilities with high dengue case load and support the management of patients in those facilities. All govt blood centres have also been asked to ensure availability of platelet.
