Kolkata: A special Pocso court at Bichar Bhavan on Thursday remanded a youth, Mohammad Adil, in judicial custody till Sept 9 after he allegedly violated his bail conditions, visited a Jorasanko locality he was not permitted to and harassed the minor girl—his victim—to force her to withdraw the case against him. Adil was again arrested on Wednesday.
the court had barred Adil from entering the survivor’s neighborhood without judicial authorisation While granting a conditional bail. But defying the court order, he allegedly went there, targeted the teenaged girl, used abusive language and tried to pressure her family to drop the legal proceedings. The family lodged a complaint at the Jorasanko PS. Adil was produced before acting judge Kaustav Mukhopadhyay at the special Pocso court. Govt prosecutor Mousumi Raychaudhuri sought the cancellation of his bail. A fresh case was registered against Adil for criminal intimidation, defying court orders and harassing a minor victim.
The survivor’s mother also appeared before the bench, pleading for the court’s intervention and protection.
