Bhiwandi: A 26-year-old medical representative from Kasheli in Bhiwandi was arrested by Narpoli police on Sunday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl, who is reportedly a relative of the accused.
The Class 8 student, who studies at a school in Thane (West), allegedly told police that the accused sexually assaulted her for the first time in September last year after finding her alone. He was produced before a Bhiwandi court on Sunday and was remanded in police custody till September 15.
He allegedly subjected her to repeated sexual assault over the following year and also threatened her and her family to prevent them from disclosing the matter, police said. The girl recently confided in her elder sister about the alleged abuse, according to the complaint. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested the accused.
The sister informed their family, following which they approached Narpoli police and lodged a complaint on Sunday.
