Thane: The Thane Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise a ‘Loktantra Bachao padayatra’ (Save Democracy Rally March) on Sunday, Nov 1, to protest what it describes as growing lawlessness and mob rule in society.
Senior leaders, including BJP Maharashtra president Ravindra Chavan, Forest minister Ganesh Naik and Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav , among others, will participate in the march that will begin at 9 am from Parmarth Niketan in Pachpakhadi, near the Thane Corporation headquarters, and culminate at Talao Pali.
The BJP that rules the state and shares power in the Thane municipal administration says the motive is to condemn the increasing lawlessness and mob justice in the name of protests and demonstrations. “There is a need to protect democratic institutions, uphold Constitution and maintain law and order as the key objectives of the march,” said BJP Thane City District president Sandeep Lele.
