Dharwad : A 28-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife before ending his own life by hanging at Garag village in Dharwad taluk late on Thursday night.
The couple had been married for around 18 months and have a one-year-old child, according to Garag police.
Investigators said frequent quarrels had erupted between the two after Moulasab allegedly suspected his wife’s fidelity. Police said he stabbed her multiple times, resulting in her death. He later allegedly hanged himself inside the house. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and shifted the bodies for postmortem examination.
Despite the intervention, Moulasab allegedly attacked Salma with a knife at their residence on Thursday night.
The dispute had reportedly intensified in recent weeks, prompting family members and village elders to intervene. On Wednesday, they counselled the couple and advised them to resolve their differences and lead a peaceful married life.
A case has been registered at Garag police station, and further investigation is under way.
