Kalaburagi : A court in Kalaburagi has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his wife and their 11-year-old daughter in Sedam nearly five years ago.
In the early hours of Sept 23, while Jagadeeshwari and her daughter were asleep, Digambara allegedly attacked them with a wooden log, killing both on the spot.
Police said he later called his wife’s sister and brother and informed them about the killings.
On the night of Sept 22, 2021, Digambara allegedly picked a quarrel with Jagadeeshwari.
Digambara had been harassing Jagadeeshwari for nearly two years, suspecting her fidelity, according to the prosecution. Eventually, Jagadeeshwari and her daughter shifted to a rented house in Sedam, but Digambara is said to have continued troubling them. Despite repeated attempts by her family members to counsel him, the harassment allegedly continued. Family members intervened and counselled him before leaving the house.
Following a complaint, Sedam police registered a case and launched an investigation. Public prosecutor KR Nagaraja Maski represented the state during the trial, leading to Digambara’s conviction and sentencing.
Then circle police inspector Rajashekhar Haligodi filed the chargesheet before the court.
