Kalaburagi : A court on Monday sentenced six people to seven years’ imprisonment and fined them Rs 20,000 each for illegally possessing and selling a country-made pistol.
Third additional district and sessions court judge Sarita D convicted Bheemanna Pujari, 35, of Sumbad village in Yadrami taluk; Siddappa Diggavi, 37; Parasayya Guttedar, 21, of Malli village; Saleem Shirasagi, 22, of Mandeval; Saifan Sab Shirur, 46, of Zhalaki (K) village in Aland taluk; and Basavaraj Naribol, 34, of Shirwal village in Shahapur taluk of Yadgir district. The case dates to Aug 2022, when police noticed Bheemanna getting off a bus at Afzalpur bus stand after obtaining a country-made pistol. Police searched him and seized the pistol and four rounds.
During the investigation, Bheemanna reportedly told police that he had travelled to Madhya Pradesh with Saifan Sab, purchased the pistol and returned to sell it to Saleem, Siddappa and Parasayya. He also said Basavaraj had purchased two rounds. A case was registered at Afzalpur police station.
