Pointing out that Karnataka ’s previously lower milk prices had attracted traders from neighbouring states to buy up local stock, Swamy asserted that the price adjustment successfully balances consumer availability with fair compensation for farmers.

Highlighting that dairy farming is a vital economic backbone for rural families—particularly women who put in immense daily labour caring for livestock—Swamy noted that out of the Rs 8 per litre price increase, Rs 7 goes directly to the dairy producers to ensure their hard work is fairly rewarded, while Rs 1 is allocated to support regional milk unions. Speaking to reporters, he emphasised that the hardships of dairy farmers, their rising production and cattle feed costs, and ground realities of animal husbandry must also be taken into account.
