Shivamogga : An assistant general manager at Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VISP) allegedly died by suicide at his official residence in Bhadravathi on Monday, police said.

The incident came to light around 11am, police said. SP B Nikhil said police were waiting for Govindaraju’s family members to return from Salem to gather additional information. Later, a Mescom employee who visited the house to generate a power bill received no response after knocking on the door. Plant officials subsequently went to the residence and found Govindaraju dead. Newtown police inspected the premises and began investigating the circumstances of his death. No FIR had been registered until Monday evening. Download the TOI App.

He dropped his wife at the railway station around 3pm on Sunday and returned home. He was scheduled to report for work on Monday but did not do so and failed to answer repeated calls from concerned colleagues.
