Mysuru: With less than a week remaining for the 2026 Mysuru Dasara procession, City police have intensified security measures as a precaution against acts of sabotage during the celebrations.
In addition to the anti-sabotage arrangements, special measures have been introduced for the safety of women and children during the 2026 Dasara celebrations. A total of 32 women police personnel and women home guards have been posted to these units and are working in two shifts.
DCP (law and order) Harsha Priyamvada told TOI that so far, police teams haven’t found any suspicious objects in any public places. Even hotels’ records are being verified, and some hoteliers have been directed to strictly verify the identity of suspicious customers during the festival season. The Akka teams will patrol all major event venues, bus stands, railway stations and other places where women gather in large numbers. They will respond immediately to complaints or emergencies involving women and children and will also conduct awareness campaigns on safety precautions to follow during the festive period. The police inspector of the Women’s Police Station, Mysuru City, has been appointed as the officer in charge, coordinating with Akka teams and the city wireless control room to oversee safety-related deployments.
