Belagavi : Belagavi City Corporation corporator Sarika Patil has apologised for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Kannada organisations and leaders in a Facebook post.

Patil, who represents Ward 50, submitted a written statement to Shahapur police on Oct 10, expressing regret and assuring them that she would not repeat the act. She acknowledged that the post, published on Aug 21, was made in a moment of anger and contained remarks that could be perceived as disrespectful towards Kannada organisations and derogatory towards their leaders. She also confirmed that the post had been deleted from her Facebook account.

In her statement, Patil apologised to Kannadigas, Kannada organisations and Kannada leaders. She also admitted that the post could have created a misleading impression about the struggles and activities of Kannada organisations. Realised seriousness during police inquiry

Patil realised the seriousness of the issue and the impact of the post after she was summoned and questioned by officials at Shahapur police station on Oct 10, according to her statement. “I am a corporator of Belagavi City Corporation and have great respect for the Kannada language.
