A devastating incident took place involving a law student who was fatally stabbed after turning down a marriage proposal
BENGALURU: Chilling CCTV footage of the July 13 stabbing of 22-year-old fourth-year law student Amrutha has surfaced, showing the attack in which she was allegedly stabbed after rejecting a marriage proposal. She battled for more than 48 hours before succumbing to her injuries at a hospital on July 15. The attack took place around 4.30pm in Kodihalli on HAL Road.
Police said Amrutha, Dhanush G and his younger brother Surya G were from the same locality.
During the altercation on July 13, Surya allegedly attacked Amrutha with a knife, stabbing her in the chest and back before fleeing the spot. Amrutha’s family rushed her to hospital, where she remained under treatment for more than 48 hours. Despite doctors’ efforts to save her, she died on the evening of July 15.

The two families became acquainted through religious gatherings, according to the preliminary investigation. Police said Amrutha ended the relationship after discovering that Dhanush had previously been married, was divorced and had a child. Police said Surya was enraged by her decision and had warned that he would not spare her for rejecting his brother. Local residents caught him, police said.
Amrutha and Dhanush developed a close friendship, which later turned into a relationship. She then distanced herself from him. Following the incident, Jeevan Bheema Nagar police registered a case against Dhanush and Surya. Both have since been arrested and are being interrogated. Download the TOI App.
