Convening a drought review meeting with district level officials here on Tuesday, Shivakumar said the Praja Seva department will be launched on Sept 5, after which the district ministers should hold meetings twice every month.

Gadag: District-level officials should camp at the headquarters and stay accessible to the people while taluk-level officials should stay in their respective taluks, said chief minister DK Shivakumar . If the MLAs do not visit, officials should go to people,” he said, adding: “The govt has launched a special programme to provide housing sites to those who do not own sites. “People should submit their applications in advance. As many public grievances as possible should be resolved on the spot. MLAs will hear people’s grievances at the gram panchayat level four days every month. People without housing sites should submit the appropriate documents while applying for a site. Those who already own a site should not be allowed to apply.”

Later, he interacted with agricultural labourers, who said they used to get more work under the MGNREGA scheme when it was in operation, and appealed to the govt to ensure that they get more work under the VB Gram G scheme now. Third-party phone numbers should not be linked to bank accounts. Guarantee implementation committees should be formed at the GP level by MLAs. Registration of Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha will be made available online.
