Rajasekhar Hitnal. Koppal : Muzrai minister KS Basavanthappa on Tuesday expressed strong displeasure over poor sanitation and alleged mismanagement at the Sri Huligemma temple in Huligi, during an inspection of the shrine along with Koppal MP K.
Stay updated with the latest Hubballi news. After offering prayers, Basavanthappa spent nearly an hour inspecting various parts of the temple premises. He pulled up temple officials and staff after finding unclean surroundings and questioned their handling of the shrine, which draws thousands of devotees daily. Basavanthappa was particularly upset to find saris, coconuts, incense sticks and other offerings donated by devotees piled up in a room, with some of them decomposing. He directed the temple administration to follow due tender procedures and dispose them of as per rules. The minister also instructed officials to appoint locals to maintain the temple washrooms and ensure devotees were not overcharged in the name of maintenance. At the footwear counter, he directed staff not to collect excessive charges and to extend concessions to poor devotees who could not afford the fee. Deputy commissioner Suresh B Itnal, members of the Sri Huligemma Devi Kshetra development authority and villagers were present. Download the TOI App.
