Belagavi : A young couple’s dreams of a future together were cut short after a motorcycle accident in Hukkeri taluk claimed both their lives within four days, leaving their families devastated, as police continue their investigation.
The accident occurred on Sept 10 near Belavi Cross on the Chikkodi-Hukkeri Road. Jotiba, 25, a resident of Khanapur, was riding the motorcycle when he reportedly lost control at a sharp curve.
Police said the two were reportedly in a relationship and were travelling towards Khanapur when the accident took place. The vehicle overturned into a field, killing him on the spot. Meanwhile, the girl’s family had lodged a complaint at the local police station, alleging that she had been kidnapped by Jotiba. The complaint was registered before news of the accident emerged. Hukkeri police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations into the incident.
A 17-year-old girl from Mudhol, who was travelling with him, sustained serious injuries. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries on Sept 14. She was initially treated at Hukkeri Government Hospital before being shifted to Belagavi District Hospital. Following the post-mortem, her body was handed over to her family.
