Snehal said farmers must register all survey numbers on the FRUITS portal and obtain a Farmer Identification Number to receive crop-loss compensation and other govt benefits. The survey was conducted on govt directions to assess losses and identify farmers eligible for relief. Farmers have been asked to verify whether crops cultivated under their survey numbers have been correctly entered in the crop survey database. Those without a number should approach agriculture, horticulture or revenue department officials with the required documents. Protesters also sought an immediate farm loan waiver, settlement of crop insurance claims, timely supplies of fertilisers and quality seeds, and adequate irrigation and electricity. Other demands included canal repairs, desilting, cow shelters in every taluk, free rations for agricultural labourers, drought-relief employment, and adequate fodder and drinking water for livestock. They urged the deputy commissioner to convene a meeting with farmers and address their demands within a stipulated time frame. Download the TOI App.
