Pic for representation only Yadgir : Residents of Yadgir district have expressed anger over the proposed exclusion of Yadgir railway station from the stoppages of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train planned between Bengaluru and Mumbai. The launch date is yet to be finalised, even as plans are under way for the railway minister to flag off the service. Residents alleged that the Railway Board had once again ignored the district.
It is expected to cover the journey in around 16 hours, against nearly 24 hours taken by Udyan Express. Earlier, Yadgir was denied a halt when the Vande Bharat Express between Kalaburagi and Bengaluru was introduced. Stay updated with the latest Hubballi news.
Social activist Siddappa said residents welcomed the decision to operate the Sleeper service via Kalaburagi in Kalyana Karnataka instead of the proposed Hubballi route, but demanded that Yadgir be included as a stoppage. The train is expected to halt at Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Solapur and Pune. A stoppage was later approved following protests and pressure from elected representatives. Rajdhani Express was subsequently given a halt too. Download the TOI App.
