With lakhs of voters receiving notices, Congress and BJP functionaries have activated booth-level agents (BLA) to help people produce documents, attend hearings and file Form 6 applications to ensure they retain their names on the final rolls. In BBMP South, more than 4 lakh voters are scheduled to receive notices. In Bantwal, BJP MLA Rajesh Naik U said 8,000 notices were issued in his constituency, against more than 1.5 lakh in the district. Minister and BTM Layout Congress MLA Ramalinga Reddy said BLAs were assisting voters during the verification. “We have consistently said minor mistakes for which notices are issued should not be treated as serious infractions,” he said. Dattatri S, BJP’s SIR programme convener, said the party has set up a daily monitoring system. “The state has 10 divisions, each comprising several districts,” he said.
