Raichur : Forest department personnel in Maski taluk, Raichur district, allegedly assaulted a farmer who had objected to the planting of saplings on his land. Serious allegations have emerged that the officials forcibly made him consume alcohol, took him to their office, beat him and demanded a bribe.

It is alleged that, enraged by the incident, forest department personnel forcibly took Ramesh away on a motorcycle, compelled him to consume alcohol en route, brought him to the Lingasugur forest department office and subjected him to a severe assault.

It is alleged that forest department personnel forced Ramesh to drink again at their office, assaulted him at will and then called his family to demand a bribe of Rs 15,000. Forest department personnel reportedly arrived at farmer Ramesh ’s farmland to plant saplings. Ramesh, who cultivates pomegranates on his land, objected when they attempted to plant a sapling near his pomegranate plants. He questioned the personnel why they could not plant outside the boundary instead. Concerned that the presence of forest department saplings might lead to a land dispute in the future, he insisted that the saplings be planted outside the farm’s limits.

Serious allegations have emerged that forest department personnel brutally assaulted a farmer who objected to the planting of saplings on his agricultural land. The farmer, hailing from Yaradoddi village in Maski taluk, Raichur district, is currently admitted to a hospital.
