The deceased, identified as Padma (30)
CHIKKABALLAPUR: A 36-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon over a suspected extramarital affair and later surrendered before the police in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district. The deceased, identified as Padma (30), was a resident of Nakkalahalli village in Gauribidanur taluk. On November 4, Padma and Chandrashekar visited a relative’s house to attend a death ceremony.
Padma and Chandrashekar had been married for several years and had three children, according to the police. The alleged murder took place at a farm near Chinnamanahalli village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sidlaghatta Rural police station. The couple frequently quarrelled over Chandrashekar’s alleged relationship with another woman, identified as Shwetha, a resident of Goramunhalli. Chandrashekar allegedly sent his mother-in-law, Narasamma, to Sidlaghatta on some pretext and later took Padma to a secluded spot near a farm recently purchased by her parents. He allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp weapon and killed her. After the incident, Chandrashekar reportedly called Narasamma and informed her that he had murdered Padma at the cashew nut farm. Narasamma, along with other family members, rushed to the spot and found Padma dead. She subsequently lodged a complaint with Sidlaghatta Rural police. Meanwhile, Chandrashekar surrendered before Gauribidanur Rural police. He was later handed over to Sidlaghatta Rural police, who have taken up the investigation.
