Mangaluru: District Congress Committee president Padmaraj Poojary alleged that Form 7 applications were being misused to seek the deletion of eligible voters from electoral rolls in parts of the district, and said that cases had been registered in the Kavoor and Belthangady police station limits in this regard. The party had received information about multiple such cases, and was checking Form 7 applications and voter status to ensure no genuine voter was deleted. Congress had received information from Jokatte that 61 Christian voters were listed for deletion. The party had sought details of the Form 7 applications, and would monitor the process to flag cases involving suspected deletion of genuine voters,” he said, KPCC general secretary Mithun Rai alleged misuse of 68 Form 7 applications in Moodushedde gram panchayat limits under the Moodubidire assembly constituency.
He said two cases were lodged in Kavoor and one in Belthangady. “Congress delegations had met election officials, urging vigilance and legal action against false applications. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Poojary alleged that lists of voters, particularly from SC/ST, Christian and Muslim communities, were being submitted to EC officials along with cover letters.
