Davanagere: A 13-year-old Class 8 student, Manoj TR, of Basava International School in Machanayakanahalli, died by suicide in Pandomatti village of Channagiri taluk in Davanagere district, police said. His parents have filed a complaint at Channagiri police station against four boys from the village, alleging harassment, intimidation and physical assault.
Manoj had allegedly taken nearly Rs 4 lakh from his home, according to the complaint. The family later discovered that the accused boys had reportedly been pressuring him to bring money and deposit it into the online gaming app Free Fire. His parents alleged that the boys threatened to kill him if he failed to provide the money and had assaulted him on several occasions.
