Hubballi-Chennai flights set for takeoff after year-long gap

At present, the lack of direct air connectivity to these destinations forces passengers

Hubballi : IndiGo will resume direct flights between Hubballi and Chennai from Oct 27, giving a boost to air connectivity in North Karnataka.

“IndiGo will resume the service from Oct 27 and operate it thrice a week.

There is also good connectivity from Chennai to Southeast Asia,” he said. Bidasaria said KCCI would write to IndiGo seeking continuation of air connectivity with Pune. Hubballi Airport director Rupesh Kumar said IndiGo’s Chennai service had remained suspended for a year despite strong demand. There is demand for a daily Chennai service,” he said.

Sandeep Bidasaria, president of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Hubballi, welcomed the resumption but expressed concern over the proposed discontinuation of the Hubballi-Pune service. “The flight service to Chennai is a positive step. Chennai offers greater international connectivity and the service will benefit industries and businesses.
