Voters whose names have been left out of the electoral roll have been given an opportunity to file claims and objections for inclusion, corrections or other issues until Sept 23. Deputy commissioner Ikram Shariff said the draft roll comprises 18.4 lakh voters across the district’s nine Assembly constituencies. The roll includes 14,125 voters in the 18-19 age group, comprising 8,325 men and 5,800 women. It also identifies 24,817 persons with disabilities, including 14,370 men and 10,445 women. The district’s elector-population ratio now stands at 56.1%, compared to 70% before the revision exercise. The district has a sex ratio of 967 female voters for every 1,000 male voters. Eligible voters have 60 days to submit claims and objections. Those whose names are missing can apply for inclusion through Form 6, while Form 8 can be used for corrections in voter details. Claims and objections regarding omissions, corrections and related issues can be submitted until Sept 23. Before the SIR exercise, the constituency had 3,35,254 voters. A total of 1,05,257 names were excluded, including 8,048 deceased voters, 17,833 found absent, 64,866 who had permanently relocated, 5,179 registered elsewhere and 9,331 placed under other discrepancy categories. Authorities also flagged 9,597 anomalies and identified 16,261 no-mapping cases. Shinde said 14 additional assistant electoral registration officers have been recommended to carry out polling station-level inquiries. Kalaburagi South has 1,96,522 voters, comprising 96,481 men, 1,00,008 women and 33 voters in the others category. The constituency has 1,312 young voters and 1,702 voters with disabilities, while its gender ratio stands at 1,037 women per 1,000 men. Notices are being issued to nearly 31,000 voters in the South constituency, including 12,648 cases with discrepancies and 18,429 unmapped voters.

Kalaburagi City Corporation commissioner Avinash Shinde said draft rolls for Kalaburagi North and South Assembly constituencies had also been published. Kalaburagi North has 2,29,997 voters, including 1,14,271 men, 1,15,685 women and 41 voters in the “others” category. Kalaburagi : Kalaburagi recorded the highest number of voter exclusions in Karnataka after Bengaluru, with permanent relocation emerging as the primary reason, as the district published its draft electoral roll following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) survey. Draft electoral lists for all taluks and constituencies have been published. Notices will be issued and inquiries conducted in all such cases.
