An audit report for 2025-26 has flagged the appointment of seven employees to posts allegedly created without prior sanction from the govt, with salaries exceeding Rs 27 lakh paid to them. Of the Rs 27 lakh-plus expenditure on salaries, around Rs 19.2 lakh was allegedly paid towards the unsanctioned posts. Citing the audit findings, Koppal resident Nagaraj Bellad filed a complaint with the deputy commissioner, seeking a detailed probe into the financial objections raised in Kuda’s 2025-26 audit report.

Responding to the allegations, Kuda chairperson Prasanna Gadad said police were already investigating financial irregularities in the authority. Koppal : Even as the Koppal Urban Development Authority (Kuda) faces allegations of fraud and irregularities in site allotments, a fresh controversy has surfaced over appointments made without government approval. The recruits reportedly included four Group-D employees, a driver, a computer operator and a cleaner. However, the audit noted that only three of the seven posts had received official approval. The audit has recommended recovery of the amount. He also urged authorities to recover the amount allegedly causing loss to the govt from those held responsible for the appointments. He added that the committee would meet to deliberate on the complaint and take appropriate action. Download the TOI App.
